Energy Assistance
SENIORS AND PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
CAN APPLY EARLY FOR LIHEAP
Project NOW is currently scheduling appointments for senior citizens (age 60 and above) and persons with disabilities to apply for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Seniors and persons receiving disability benefits are encouraged to call or stop in to the Project NOW Outreach office closest to their residence to set up an appointment.
Outreach offices are open between 8 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday. Locations are:

Appointments for all others wishing to apply for LIHEAP can be scheduled starting November 1.
LIHEAP is designed to assist eligible households with low incomes pay for winter energy service through a one-time benefit to be used for their energy bill. The amount of payment is determined by income, household size, fuel type and ge'ographic locations. The program is funded by the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services.

Project NOW is Accepting Applications for Special Energy Assistance Fundsfor AMEREN Illinois Customers
Project NOW is currently scheduling appointments for eligible AmerenIP customers within Mercer and
Henry counties to apply for energy rate relief funds. Residents of these counties are encouraged to call or
stop in to the Project NOW Outreach office closest to their residence to set up an appointment.
Outreach offices are open between 8 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday. Locations are:

The special funds are available through two programs - the Bill Payment Assistance Program and the
Residential Hardship Assistance Program.
The Bill Payment Assistance Program will provide grants to low-income electric customers with household incomes of 150 percent to 200 percent of the federal poverty level ($30,975 to $41,300 for a family of four). Project Now will provide grants of$150 to eligible AmerenIP customers.
When applying for energy assistance the following documentation is required:
Through the Residential Hardship Assistance Program, Project NOW will distribute the funds to AmerenIP customers with household incomes of up to 400 percent of the federal poverty level ($82,600 for a family of four) based on the custoroer's specific hardship. A maximum of $600 per household may be provided. Qualified persons must demonstrate and prove unique hardship situations, such as, medical circumstances, military deployment or tragedy in the family.
